Introduction

Arfon Consulting was formed in 2014 as a boutique economic development consultancy reflecting the twin passions of infrastructure as an enabler for economic growth and excellence in project and programme management of the company’s co-founders, Alun Williams and Jennifer Allan.

Origins

The company’s name, “Arfon” (pronounced Arr-von)", is Welsh in origin and in addition to being a popular boy’s name also represents the name of a parliamentary constituency in North West Wales where Alun Williams grew up, hence the adoption of the name by the company. Meaning “facing [the isle of] Anglesey”, the constituency is primarily urban in nature with a prominent rural hinterland.

This reflects Arfon Consulting’s own development from foundation in rural Aberdeenshire which, like its parliamentary name-sake, is located on the periphery of mainland Great Britain to the company’s present day location in urban Cardiff.

Aptly enough, given the company’s focus on supporting economic growth and renewal, Arfon Consulting’s offices are located at Neptune Court on brownfield land redeveloped after the demolition and clearance of the historic East Moors steelworks in the city.

Quality

Equally, Arfon Consulting is committed not only to achieving excellence in the delivery of its services, but also ensuring that quality permeates its own operations and corporate DNA.

Accordingly, the company has developed and maintained its own quality management systems since foundation which, from 2021, have been externally reviewed and accredited as being compliant with the ISO 9001 quality management standard.

Social Value

In common with the ethos of social value within public procurement, Arfon Consulting is a signatory to the Good Business Charter as being a responsible, honest and trustworthy business forms part of the company’s core values.
